Sessions are recorded and transcribed automatically, so you can be present in the conversation rather than typing through it.
What gets recorded
It depends on the method:
Surveys: answers only.
AI interviews: always audio, plus a transcript. Not optional, because the recording is how the conversation reaches you.
Moderated interviews: usually video.
Unmoderated tests: the participant's screen. Video diary tasks also record their camera.
If you've turned on think aloud for an unmoderated test, their voice is recorded too.
Where calls happen
CleverX video by default, with nothing for the participant to install.
You can use Google Meet, Microsoft Teams or Zoom instead if your team prefers. For those, a recording bot joins the call and captures it.
Transcription
Every recording is transcribed with timestamps, so you can search for a phrase and jump to the moment it was said.
Consent
Participants are told what will be recorded before anything starts, and agree at that point. The notice says plainly whether their camera or microphone is involved.
We store their agreement with a timestamp, so there's a clear record of what they were shown and when. You don't need to do anything to make this happen.
If someone declines, they don't take part and aren't charged to your study.
What you get afterwards
Recording, transcript, and analysis across sessions, themes that recur, quotes worth using, and sentiment.
Getting more from recordings
Watch a few sessions properly before reading any summary. Summaries are good at what was said and poor at how it was said, and hesitation, backtracking and irritation are usually the most useful signals you have.
Share clips rather than findings. Thirty seconds of a customer struggling persuades a room more thoroughly than a paragraph explaining that customers struggle.
